Dora Turns 10!
Nickelodeon is honoring Dora's landmark 10th anniversary with the premiere of the hour-long primetime TV movie, "Dora's Big Birthday Adventure," on Sunday, Aug. 15, at 8pm (ET/PT) featuring guest stars Rosie Perez, John Leguizamo and Hector Elizondo. 

Following the TV movie, at 9pm (ET/PT), Nick will premiere the specially commissioned Dora 10th anniversary documentary, a 12-minute tribute to the preschool icon executive-produced by Academy Award®-nominated Brett Morgen. 

The documentary features Anderson Cooper, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Rosie Perez, Salma Hayek Pinault, Shakira, Soledad O'Brien, Sherri Shepherd, plus the series creators, media experts and real-life kids.

Starz Edge pays tribute to Dennis Hopper 
Dennis Hopper - a true Hollywood icon and Renaissance man will be remembered on Starz Edge, Thursday, July 29 beginning at 8:00 p.m. (et/pt). 

The Academy Award® nominated actor, director, artist and photographer who passed away on May 29th, recently received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and currently has a retrospective of his artistic work at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles. He starred for two seasons as legendary record producer Ben Cendars on Starz’s first original drama series “Crash.” Starz Edge will show five episodes from the show, supplemented by interviews with Hopper and “Crash” cast members. In addition, his photography and art will be shown as well as remembrances from some of his longtime friends.

CAPRICA RETURNS TO SYFY 
Syfy has announced the highly-anticipated return of critically-acclaimed series Caprica. The second half of season one premieres in January 2011 (date TBA), and kicks off with a thrilling pace as the citizens of Caprica deal with the chaotic aftermath of the mid-season finale’s harrowing events.

In season 1.5, the once idyllic world of Caprica – as well as life across the colonies – falls prey to an explosive chain reaction of consequences set off by the characters’ many questionable actions in the season’s first half. Tensions rise, power shifts and the line between reality and the virtual world becomes increasingly blurred as everyone struggles to learn – and conquer – the stakes in this volatile setting. As the season races towards its stunning conclusion, events of each episode lay the framework for the inevitable (and brutal) clash between the newly-created Cylon race and their human creators.

An all-new trailer for season 1.5 will premiere at Caprica’s Comic-Con panel on July 23, and before landing on Syfy.com, it will be available exclusively on Microsoft’s Zune Marketplace on Xbox LIVE and Windows PCs through the Zune PC software available for free at www.zune.net. (July 26).

As America celebrates its 234th birthday on July 4th, Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will honor the occasion with a special Americana triple feature, with the all-American musicals Bye Bye Birdie (1963) and Oklahoma! (1955), as well as the great American silent comedy The General (1927).

Bye Bye Birdie at 8 p.m. (est/pst). Dick Van Dyke, Janet Leigh, Ann-Margret, Maureen Stapleton, Paul Lynde and American television legend Ed Sullivan star in this pitch-perfect satire of rock-and-roll stardom.

Oklahoma! at 10 p.m. (est/pst), Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones star in the Rodgers and Hammerstein’s groundbreaking musical of a love story set against the backdrop of the rugged Oklahoma territory.

Lynch on Neighbors from Hell
Jane Lynch may be in musical heaven as Sue Sylvester on the series Glee.  But  Monday, June 28th at 10 p.m. (ET/PT), she’s going straight to hell when she guest-stars on TBS’s irreverent animated comedy NEIGHBORS FROM HELL.  

In the episode, Lynch provides the voice of Alex, a no-nonsense, sex-crazed EPA inspector who must decide whether to green light Balthazor’s (Will Sasso) plan to build high schools on marshlands she oversees.

TBS’s NEIGHBORS FROM HELL, which airs Mondays at 10 p.m., follows the misadventures of the Hellmans, a family of devils sent to the surface of the Earth to prevent a giant drill from making its way into their underworld home.  But in order to complete their mission, they must pose as average, everyday suburbanites.  

AFI honors Nichols on TVLand
The stars come out this Sunday on TVLand as AFI honors Mike Nichols the 2010 AFI Life Achievement award. Meryl Streep (“Postcards from the Edge,” “Heartburn”) had the honor of presenting the award to Nichols saying, "It's Mike's grace that makes you feel, when you work with him, like you've been invited to an impromptu gathering of the most interesting, inventive people in town, and somehow, miraculously, you're one of those people.”

Murder on the Orient Express
All aboard for the most famous crime ever to be committed and solved on a train—Murder on the Orient Express, headlining a trio of Agatha Christie's Poirot mysteries, starring David Suchet. 

The long-awaited adaptation is preceded by a one-hour special taking viewers on a present-day journey aboard the iconic train on David Suchet on the Orient Express: A MASTERPIECE Special. 

Next up is Third Girl, in which Poirot teams with Ariadne Oliver (Zoë Wanamaker), a crime novelist said to be modeled on Christie herself. And on Appointment with Death, the Belgian sleuth focuses his detective genius on an archaeological site in Syria, where a fabulous ancient artifact has come to light—in addition to a modern corpse.

The Phantom Premieres 
This weekend SyFy will premiere a 4 hour movie THE PHANTOM, Ryan Carnes, Isabella Rossellini and Sandrine Holt. The film will premiere on Saturday, June 20th at 7est/pst.

CMT New Summer Videos

AFI honors Mike Nichols
The American Film Institute and TV Land announced today that many of Hollywood’s finest will be on hand to salute acclaimed and beloved film, television and stage director Mike Nichols when he receives the 38th AFI Life Achievement Award on June 10, 2010 on the historic Stage 15 at the Sony Pictures Studios.

Great American Hero Marathon
A Syfy celebrates America’s birthday with a 20-hour July 4th marathon of the cult classic The Greatest American Hero, which hasn’t been seen on national television since its original network run in 1983. 

Featuring a most unlikely superhero, The Greatest American Hero aired from 1981-83, starring William Katt, Robert Culp and Connie Selleca.

Katt portrayed Ralph Hinkley, a young high school teacher in Los Angeles who is set upon by extra-terrestrials while on a field trip in the desert. The aliens give him an incredible red flying suit with unknown powers – unfortunately Ralph loses the instruction book. Culp plays a neurotic FBI agent who persuades Ralph to use his new powers to fight crime. Selleca is Ralph’s girlfriend, an attorney.

The holiday celebration airs Sunday, July 4, from 9am-5am est/pst on Syfy.

Film Tribute to Lena Horne
Turner Classic Movies (TCM) will dedicate the Friday, May 21, primetime lineup to paying tribute to legendary singer-actress Lena Horne, who passed away yesterday at the age of 92. The night’s collection will feature three films with defining Horne performances. Listed are the films and times.

• 8 p.m. The Duke is Tops (1938), Horne’s film debut, featuring performances of the songs “I Know You Remember” and “Don't Let Our Love Song Turn Into a Blues.”

• 9:30 p.m. Cabin in the Sky (1943), Horne’s favorite among her own films. Eddie “Rochester” Anderson and Ethel Waters star.

• 11:15 p.m. Panama Hattie (1942), an example of the type of role Horne was frequently forced to play. Her songs include “Just One of Those Things” and “The Sping.”

• 12:45 a.m. The Fallen Sparrow (1943), starring John Garfield and Maureen O’Hara in the story of a former Spanish Civil War prisoner searching for the truth about the death of a friend. A tremendous fan of Garfield, Horne counted this film among her favorites.

True Blood online Minisodes
HBO is giving True Blood lovers a drop of True Blood with an online premiere of six original minisodes for the series.

Written by show creator Alan Ball and featuring lead cast members, the minisodes are entirely new, with scenes that can’t be found in past or future seasons. The first minisode will debut online today exclusively on Yahoo! at: www.tv.yahoo.com  then on HBO.com.

As meticulously crafted as the show itself, the True Blood minisodes were shot on location by the series’ production team and feature lead characters Sookie, Bill, Eric, Tara, Sam, Jason, Lafayette, Jessica and Pam in all new, original scenes with a nod to past and future storylines. The 3-5 minute minisodes promise to entice “Trubies” as well as potential viewers with scenes that will whet their appetites for things to come.

True Blood the 3rd season returns to HBO on June 13.

Turner Classic Movies proudly celebrates Motown’s 50th anniversary with an all-night movie marathon slated for Wednesday, April 14, beginning at 8 p.m. (ET), exactly 50 years to the day that Berry Gordy Jr. officially incorporated the company.

Eyewitness to Murder: The King Assassination
Forty years after the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the 2008 installment of CNN’s groundbreaking documentary series Black in America, reported by anchor and special correspondent Soledad O’Brien. O’Brien describes how escaped convict and armed robber James Earl Ray had already spent an uncommon year on the run that included plastic surgery the month before his path collided with that of the civil rights leader in Memphis, Tenn.

Through interviews with first-person witnesses and investigators, O’Brien retraces the steps of King, Ray and investigators and explores alternative scenarios of what may have happened that fateful day on April 4, 1968. O'Brien asks who was ultimately responsible for the murder that, for some, may have meant the end to the U.S. Civil Rights Era.

In “Pajama Party,” Amanda (Danielle Bisutti) crashes True's (Keke Palmer) slumber party, where their competitive sides turn a night of game-playing and secret-sharing into a battle of wills. Vivica A. Fox and Willow Smith make special appearances, playing True’s mother and young True, respectively. Meanwhile, Ryan (Matt Shively) and Jimmy's (Robbie Amell) preview screening of John Cena’s new action movie turns into an all-night adventure when their hero Cena surprises the audience by showing up, giving Ryan and Jimmy the thrill of their lives when he brings them to the set of his next movie and later, to a celebrity hockey game.

Talking Monkeys on Comedy Central
Joe Rogan's Talking Monkeys In Space one-hour television special will premiere on Saturday, March 27 at 10:00 pm. et/pt on Comedy Central.  The features the comedian's classic trademark of sharply insightful comedy delivered in straightforward and hard-edge style, tackling countless cultural taboos such as gay marriage, marijuana use and the anti-evolution debate.

On Tuesday, March 30th the DVD and CD will be released by Comedy Central Records.  The Talking Monkeys in Space DVD will be an extended and uncensored version. The CD contains bonus tracks of Q&A with Rogan while the DVD is extended and uncensored with over 25 minutes of never-before-seen footage from the special.

In Dinoshark, a resort area in Mexico is terrorized by a prehistoric creature that’s half dinosaur/half shark. No one believes the thing exists except a young fishing boat captain (Eric Balfour, 24, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre). To prevent a bloodbath, the captain must stop “Dinoshark” before it invades an inland waterway full of pleasure boats and swimmers.

The new film was produced by legendary cult movie producer Roger Corman unleashes a nightmarish half dinosaur-half shark onto a resort area.

First Love, Second Chance Premieres
TV Land brings together former couples from around the globe – to reunite for one week to share feelings about their dramatic, emotional and often-times sudden break-ups and entertain the possibility of rekindling the relationships in the TV Land PRIME Original Series, “First Love, Second Chance.”

Next week’s The Buried Life Season Finale, airs Monday night at 10pm ET/PT on MTV.   In this last episode, the boys try to end it big by attempting #85: Throw the Most Badass Part Ever.  They also help a young man find his birth father.

MTV premieres this week
MTV will introduce viewers to the nation’s best and brightest rising performers when its hit music- and dance-driven reality series “Randy Jackson Presents America’s Best Dance Crew” and “Taking the Stage” premiere back to back on Thursday, January 28th.

10p.m. ET/PT Season Five premiere of “America’s Best Dance Crew” will kick-off a three-episode arc with 15 all-new crews competing in regional finals for the chance at one of the nine coveted spots on the Season Five roster.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand, STARZ network's highly anticipated original series, will debut this Friday, January 22, 2010 at 10:00 pm et/pt. The hour-long drama, shot on location in New Zealand, stars Andy Whitfield as the gladiator warrior hero Spartacus.

Spartacus is a soldier in the Roman Auxiliary who has been taken prisoner. As punishment for defying a Roman Legate, Spartacus has been sentenced to die in the gladiator arena. But after surviving numerous fights, his sentence is commuted and he has been sold as a slave to be trained as a gladiator.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand features Australian newcomer Andy Whitfield as the title character, a Thracian fighting to return to his wife after being sold into slavery at a gladiatorial school. He is joined by Lucy Lawless (“Xena: Warrior Princess,” “Battlestar: Galactica”) as the deceptive Lucretia, John Hannah (The Mummy movies) as her power-hungry husband Batiatus, Peter Mensah (300) as the head of the gladiatorial school, Doctore, along with a cast of familiar as well as fresh faces.

The series is shot utilizing virtual environments in the graphic novel style of such successful features as 300 and Sin City. The process gives the show a fresh narrative approach and a hyper-realistic look that is unlike anything yet seen on TV. It’s an entirely new vision of the ancient legend.
