1. You played a lot of "Superhero" types
such as Buzz Lightyear, The Tick to Superman. Do you now only take roles with capes?
Patrick: Well...yes. (he laughs) If he doesn't have some "SUPER Heroic" power
I'm just not interested, and that might narrow the field down, in regards.
But I'm going to stick with that.
2. How did you
receive the honor of being the voice of the Amex Man of Steel?
P: I'm sure it had everything to do with my good buddy, Jerry Seinfeld. When I
say "Good body" we don't get to spend that much time together. --
matter of fact the only time we spend together is working. But I'm always going
to be grateful to the man giving me the opportunities to work on his show.
And needless to say, I'm appreciative of the fact something like that he thinks
about me.
3. What inspired your Superman portrayal?
P: I like the idea of a heading into a middle-aged and a little more human Superman.
Allot of it to it in the writing, that's the way somewhat gets conceived in the spots so to a degree it's pretty simple about what I have to do. I have
to go in sort of voice what is their interpretation of Superman and just have some
fun with that.
4. Less Than Perfect is back - will be seeing more you on the
series?
P: I hope so. I know I'm signed to do all shows. I love playing Jeb Denton. I
grew up loving Ted Night form the old Mary Tyler Moore Show. It's good to
play a news guy in a newsroom, it's just fun. It's fun working with such a
great cast. So many talented comic actors on the show.
5. Who's the biggest joker on Less Than
Perfect?
P: Cross between Zachary Levi & Will Sasso, the two of them are very funny and
very different.
6. What is your favorite role you have ever done?
P: A cross between The Tick and David Puddy (Seinfeld).
7. Will you be retuning to The Family Guy?
P: I haven't spoken with anybody. Hopefully. That would be fun to do again.
8. Do enjoy working more of voiceovers or camera work?
P: On camera stuff, although the voice over stuff is great to be apart of
something that there's a huge team effort and you see a finished
product like a Disney picture and you think wow, really my participation is so
minimal but when you put it all together with the fantastic work of animators
from across the worked who have been working on this project and you get to see
the finished product, it's really a gratifying feeling.
But it's very different though, I can't say I joy one more than either. But
there was nothing much more I enjoyed watch than much more than, The Tick. It
was so much fun to be apart of . That was a combination of both worlds.
I can't say wearing that blue suite was a joy.
9. Why was The Tick canceled?
P: Why was it canceled? You got a network like
Fox that is making a ton of money
doing reality television and it doesn't cost them anything to do, and they own
it.
Then you got a show like The Tick which shot single camera 1/2 hour show,
lots of overtime, very expensive show to make.
They did everything they could to kill the show. I didn't matter that the reviews
were good, it' didn't matter it was extremely clever and potentially wonderful.
I said "Give us a 100 episodes and will give you the most innovated
1/2 TV show ever made."
But we where doomed and doomed for those
reasons. That fiscally it didn't made since to them. So when
those 9 came in over budget. We were done.
10. Your kids do they have a favorite role you have ever done?
P: They loved The Tick. They love all the cartoons.
