Blondie and The New Cars
Seventeen years after the last tour by The Cars – one of the most successful and influential bands of the late ‘70s/early ‘80s “New Wave” era – two of its seminal members have customized a modern model that’s ready to hit the road this spring in the form of The New Cars.  Joining The Cars’ original guitarist Elliot Easton and keyboardist Greg Hawkes with vocalist/guitarist Todd Rundgren, fellow Utopia bassist/vocalist Kasim Sulton and former Tubes drummer Prairie Prince.

Newly inducted Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, Blondie will ride shotgun with The New Cars, performing classics from their new Greatest Hits- Sound & Vision album (Capitol/EMI) which includes the new hit “Rapture Riders,” a mash-up of Blondie’s “Rapture” and The Doors’ “Riders on the Storm.”

Re Hot + Blue now on DVD
The wildly successful Red Hot + Blue project, featuring such world-class artists as U2, Annie Lennox, Tom Waits, and Sinead O'Conner, and such acclaimed directors as Wim Wenders, Alex Cox, and Jonathan Demme, is finally being released with the care that it deserves.

Originally issued in 1990, the Red Hot + Blue: A Tribute To Cole Porter album created massive media attention for AIDS relief and became the first release in a 15-album series. An eclectic musical homage to the legendary songwriter Cole Porter, it went platinum, spent 24 weeks on the Billboard charts, and generated $3 million dollars for AIDS charities worldwide, but its companion piece, a VHS collection of music videos, was somewhat relegated to the shadows. That changes with the 2-disc Special Edition package of Red Hot + Blue, which contains all the music videos on a DVD and the album, complete with a much-needed remastering, on a CD, both in the same package.

DVD Special Feature include Annie Lennox - Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye (Live on VH1 Honors).  Disc 1 is the DVD and Disc 2 is the audio CD.

k.d. lang’s Reintarnation in stores Tuesday. 
Spanning 1984-1993, Reintarnation gathers 20 alt-country classics from k.d. lang's early years. Compiled by lang and her longtime collaborator Ben Mink, it features "Pay Dirt," "Big Boned Gal," and the previously unreleased "Changed My Mind." Reintarnation—named after a neologism defined by The Washington Post as “coming back to life as a hillbilly”— focuses on the first decade of her recording career, when she broke ground as a singular kind of country singer who channeled the genre’s canon while subverting a number of its conventions.

The early lang catalogue was dubbed “cowpunk” and arguably paved the way for artists who in more recent years have appropriated country music, garnering a mix of support and the suspicion of Nashville’s Music Row, and reaching a much broader audience

Erasure moves to Union Street
Erasure’s bold new acoustic album, Union Street, will be in stores today, April 18th, with a US tour slated for kickoff on May 6th at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium (formerly the Grand Ole Opry).  The new album Union Street  is dominated by revamped album tracks and born-again B-sides that the band felt best suited an extreme makeover.  Check out Erasure's new song - click below.

New Springsteen Album
Columbia Records will release Bruce Springsteen's twenty-first album, 'We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions,' on April 25. The album features Bruce's personal interpretations of thirteen traditional songs, all of them associated with the legendary guiding light of American folk music, Pete Seeger, for whom the album is named.

'We Shall Overcome: The Seeger Sessions' will be released in DualDisc format, with the full album on one side of the disc and DVD content on the other side. The 30 minute video side of the DualDisc contains extensive behind the scenes footage of the recording of the album. In addition, the DualDisc will contain two bonus tracks, special artwork, and a note from Springsteen.

New Chicago!
Chicago's 30th album introduces 13 new studio tracks ranging from signature ballads to funked-up grooves to solid rockers, including the lead single "Feel." The new CD will hit stores on Tuesday, March 21.

The album was produced by Jay DeMarcus of the famed country trio Rascal Flatts. DeMarcus performed on several tracks and also assembled Rascal Flatts bandmates Gary LeVox and Joe Don Rooney to perform on the album. A perennial force on the road, Chicago will be touring this summer with the legendary Huey Lewis & the News.

Elvis #1 Deluxe Boxed
This week, Elvis Presley's "Heartbreak Hotel" returns to the #1 spot on a Billboard chart 50 years after its initial debut. Presley's famous first RCA Studios session in 1956, two days after his 21st birthday, produced "Heartbreak Hotel" and the song became his first #1 hit.

Recorded on January 10th, and released on January 27th 1956, "Heartbreak Hotel" spent 8 weeks on the Billboard Top 100 chart at #1. The single crossed genres, topping the country charts for 17 weeks and reaching #3 on the R&B charts. This week, the single debuts at #1 on the Billboard "Hot Singles Sales" Chart.

Rock Me Amadeus
With January 27 marking the 250^th birthday of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, NPR will provide the composer and his fans with more than 60 hours of NPR Music and NPR News programming exploring his life, work, and cultural impact.

The two-hour special “The Sound of Mozart:  Celebrating 250 Years” will be broadcast from the composer’s birthplace of Salzburg and will feature performances and artists from Austria's Mozart celebrations.  Fred Child, host of NPR music program Performance Today, will host the concert.

“The Mozart Birthday Concert from Carnegie Hall” is a live three-hour concert performance by the Berlin Philharmonic with Sir Simon Rattle, hosted by John Schaefer and Margaret Juntwait, music hosts from NPR member station WNYC, New York Public Radio.

Celebrating the artist in Beijing, Prague and Ramallah, “Mozart Around the World” is a two-hour program featuring performances by such acclaimed musicians as Sir Neville Marriner, Daniel Barenboim, pianist Lang Lang and the Czech Philharmonic.  It will be hosted by Lisa Simeone, host of the NPR’s weekly opera series World of Opera.

Cash's Black Cadillac

Cash wrote the twelve-song musical memoir over roughly two years in which she lost her father Johnny Cash, her stepmother June Carter Cash, and her mother Vivian Liberto Cash Distin. NPR Radio will present their 26^th annual New Year’s Eve special will be hosted from New Orleans’ famous Tipitina’s nightclub, marking the first live music broadcast from the city since Hurricane Katrina, and will feature a number of local musical artists who have not performed in their hometown since then. Long live the Queen! Mary J. Blige's seventh album, The Breakthrough, released on December 20th, follows through on its title's promise as it blasts to the top of the chart to debut at #1.

The Breakthrough delivers more of Mary's straight-up, fan-pleasing messages all sung with her trademark serenity, conviction and compassion. The album takes the listener on a journey through its 14 tracks. The George Harrison Fund for UNICEF is a joint undertaking between the Harrison family and the U.S. Fund for UNICEF to support UNICEF programs that provide lifesaving assistance to children caught in humanitarian emergencies.

Bo's Real Thing
Bo Bice, American Idol fourth season finalist, will release his much-anticipated debut album, "The Real Thing," on 19 Recordings/RCA Records on Dec. 13. 

There will be two editions of The Real Thing. In addition to a regular CD, there will be a DualDisc version with bonus material, including three extra songs written by Bice. The DualDisc version will include the full album in enhanced stereo; a 22-minute video of "A Day in the Life" of Bo; an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Bo in the studio, at promo appearances, photo shoots and meeting his fans; the three bonus audio tracks.

Streisand: The TV Specials 
The five Barbra Streisand early career TV specials have been gathered into an historic DVD box-set by Warner Strategic Marketing titled, The Television Specials.  The box set also includes a 65-page booklet with incredibly detailed liner notes and packed with glorious period photos.

MY NAME IS BARBRA (1965) 
Filmed in glorious black-and-white, Streisand's first television special in 1965 is a classic in every sense of the word. This special won five Emmy Awards and the prestigious Peabody Award for Distinguished Achievement in Television. 

COLOR ME BARBRA (1966)
This time Streisand is in full color in Color Me Barbara.  This companion piece to her first special is one for the ages. The vibrant colors become a metaphor for imagination, inventiveness, fantasy, and sheer brilliance.

THE BELLE OF 14TH STREET (1967)
Streisand is the “top-billed act” in this affectionate tribute to turn of the century vaudeville. No detail was too small for this lovingly re-created world of a bygone era. A marvelous showcase for such evergreens as Sophie Tucker’s “Some Of These Days,” “How About Me?”, the poignant “I’m Always Chasing Rainbows.”  This is the least favorite special (even for Streisand herself) but the concert portion is the best part. 

BARBRA STREISAND: A HAPPENING IN CENTRAL PARK (1968) 
On the evening of June 17, 1967, Streisand and 150,000 of the “luckiest people in the world” gathered together in Central Park’s massive Sheep’s Meadow for a once-in-a-lifetime outdoor concert event. Streisand sings her mostly her classic songs and the concert was unforgettable, yet the special does not contain all the concert footage. 

BARBRA STREISAND . . . AND OTHER MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS (1973)
A multicultural musical potpourri, Streisand's fifth television spectacular is her most adventurous, including a duet with the late Ray Charles.  This speical was ahead of it's time and Streisand's most beautiful TV special endeavor. 

Queen in Concert 
Rock legends Queen, now joined forces with Paul Rodgers, announce they are to play a 23-date tour of the USA and Canada this coming Spring.
