Mathis
The
Christmas Album
Johnny Mathis has just released "The Christmas Album", his sixth Holiday cd. The cd once again showcases his incomparable vocal stylings to a rich selection of Christmas standards and future yuletide classics. Among the album's highlights are swinging renditions of "Frosty The Snowman" ; Irving Berlin's "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm"; "Have A Holly Jolly Christmas" (from Burl Ives' much loved TV special "Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer"); "Christmas Time Is Here" (from the perennial "A Charlie Brown Christmas" TV special); "Merry Christmas" (originally recorded by Judy Garland) and a heart stirring arrangement of "Joy To The World."
Chris
Botti
December
Chris Botti brings contemporary jazz to the holiday season with his release of December, on Columbia Records. Botti blends beautiful harmonies and sounds of the holiday spirit to create music that is joyful, romantic, and sexy. "December" is a 13-song collection that showcases standard seasonal fare like "Little Drummer Boy" and "Hark! The Herald Angels Sing." Combined with songs that are both seasonal and uplifting, Botti brings an artistic vibe to the album with melodies that are well suited to his trumpet, such as a hushed rendition of Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." Chris Botti also lends his voice to December, offering romantic renditions of Richard Marx's song "Perfect Day" (with the season-appropriate line, "With you, it's Christmas every day") and "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas." December wonderfully captures the true meaning of Christmas and warmth of the season.
